Courts, Correction and Justice Committee Meeting Thursday and Friday, July 24-25
Santa Fe, NM – The Courts, Correction and Justice Committee will meet on Thursday and Friday, July 24-25, 2014 in Santa Fe.
Committee members will be presented with overviews of the New Mexico prison system, and New Mexico county jails. Members will also listen to representatives from the New Mexico Association of Counties (NMAC) regarding the state’s county detention system, as well as discuss Santa Fe and Bernalillo Counties’ detention initiatives. Committee members will also discuss special management detention facility tactics, as well as changes to the Public Defender Act and the Indigent Defense Act. On Friday, members will tour the old correctional facility in Santa Fe.
Committee Co-Chairs Senator Richard C. Martinez (D-5-Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Sandoval & Santa Fe) and Representative Gail Chasey (D-18-Bernalillo) will preside at the meeting.
