Criminal Justice Reform Subcommittee Meeting Wednesday, July 30

Santa Fe, NM – The Criminal Justice Reform Subcommittee will meet on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in the third floor conference room of the Second Judicial District Court in Albuquerque.

Among several agenda items, committee members will hear about Santa Fe’s Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) Program, sentencing enhancement zones, drug crime penalties, and drug courts in New Mexico. They will also discuss how drug addiction affects the brain with drug councilor, Kevin Mains, and Timothy P. Condon, Ph.D., a research professor at the Center on Alcoholism at the University of New Mexico. Eduardo Chavez of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration will also present to the committee regarding the use of confidential informants in controlled substance investigations and prosecutions.

Committee Co-Chair Senator Lisa A. Torraco (R-18-Bernalillo) and Representative Antonio “Moe” Maestas (D-16-Bernalillo) will preside at the meeting.
