Indian Affairs Committee Meeting Thursday and Friday, August 28-29

Santa Fe, NM – The Indian Affairs Committee will meet on Thursday, August 28, at the Albuquerque Indian Center located at 105 Texas Street SE in Albuquerque and Friday, August 29, in the Pueblo of Laguna, at the Route 66 Casino Hotel, at 10:00 a.m.

On Thursday committee members will discuss tribal infrastructure funds, mental and behavioral health programs and services available to Native Americans, the Native American Suicide Prevention Clearinghouse. Friday’s agenda includes discussing the process for requesting early-voting sites in Indian Country, providing voting materials in Native American languages, the participation of Native American youth working at the polls, the Jicarilla Apache Nation Power Authority, and the PNM/Navajo Nation Workforce Training Program.

Committee Co-Chairs Senator John Pinto (D-3- McKinley & San Juan) and Representative Sandra D. Jeff (D-5- McKinley & San Juan) will preside at the meeting.
