Kendra’s Law Signed in New Mexico

SANTA FE- Senate Pro Tem Mary Kay Papen (D-38-Dona Ana).issued the following statement regarding the signing of Senate Bill 113 (Assisted Outpatient Treatment Act, also known as Kendra’s Law):

“I am very pleased that SB 113 has been signed. We all worked very hard to get the right balance between getting treatment for those with mental illnesses who are a danger to themselves or others while protecting their rights. This legislation has proven to be effective in other states and my hope is that many in New Mexico will benefit from this legislation.”
