Land Grant Committee Meeting July 21-22

Santa Fe, NM – The Land Grant Committee will meet on Monday and Tuesday, July 21-22, 2014 at the former Tierra Amarilla (TA) Elementary School gymnasium located on state road 531, building 32 in Tierra Amarilla.

Among several agenda items, committee members will discuss the historical background of the TA Land Grant, the reorganization of the Board of the TA Land Grant, and receive an update from the office of the State Auditor on the TA Land Grant investigation. Members will also discuss different types of land grants with Dr. Manuel García y Griego,  director of the University of New Mexico LandGrant Studies Program and Arturo Archuleta of the Land Grant Council. The committee will also receive a report from the United States Forest Service.

Committee Chair Senator Jacob R. Candelaria (D-26-Bernalillo)and Vice Chair Representative Miguel P. Garcia (D-14- Bernalillo) will preside at the meeting.
