Legislative Education Study Committee Charter Schools Subcommittee Meeting Friday, November 7

Santa Fe, NM – The Legislative Education Study Committee (LESC) Charter Schools Subcommittee will meet on Friday, November 7, 2014, at 9:00 a.m. at the Albuquerque Public Schools Administration Building John Milne Board Room, located at the 6400 Uptown Boulevard, NE, in Albuquerque.

Subcommittee members will discuss the removal of the Public Education Commission’s administrative attachment to the Public Education Department; amending the Public School Code; allowing school districts and charter schools to establish transportation agreements to transport charter school students; amending the Public School Lease Purchase Act; enacting sections of the Public School Code relating to governance of charter schools; and including locally chartered and state-chartered charter schools in the definition of “agency” for purposes of the Audit Act.

Subcommittee Chair Representative Mimi Stewart (D-21-Bernalillo) will preside at the meeting.
