Legislative Finance Committee Meeting Tuesday Through Friday, November 18-21
Santa Fe, NM – The Legislative Finance Committee (LFC) will meet Tuesday through Friday, November 18, 19, 20 and 21, 2014, in Room 307 of the State Capitol in Santa Fe.
On Tuesday, committee members will discuss budget items for the Administrative Office of the Courts, the District Courts, the Metropolitan Court, the Department of Information Technology, and the State Fair Commission. They will also discuss early prevention and intervention (SM 10) with representatives from the University of New Mexico and Las Cumbres Community Services. The Sunset Subcommittee will meet during the lunch hour to discuss the status of board and commissions scheduled for sunset; reports from the Regulation and Licensing Department of appointment status, fees, and fund balances; and Legislative Health and Human Services Committee sponsored legislation.
On Wednesday, budget items will be discussed for the Department of Public Safety, the Department of Finance and Administration, the Secretary of State, the Commissioner of Public Lands, the Economic Development Department, and the Office of Military Base Planning. Committee members will also receive a report from the Jobs Council, as well as review and approve several subcommittee and financial reports.
Thursday’s agenda includes the discussion of budget items for the Aging and Long-Term Services Department, the Department of Cultural Affairs, the Department of Tourism, the New Mexico Environment Department, the Regulation and Licensing Department, the Retiree Healthcare Authority, and the Office of Superintendent of Insurance. Committee members will also receive recommendations from the Legislative Health and Human Services Committee.
On Friday, committee members will discuss budget items for the Administrative Office of the District Attorneys, and receive a staff report from the Public School Insurance Authority.
Committee Chair Representative Luciano Varela (D-48-Santa Fe) and Vice Chair Senator John Arthur Smith (D-35- Dona Ana, Hidalgo, Luna & Sierra) will preside at the meeting.
