Radioactive and Hazardous Materials Committee Meeting Tuesday and Wednesday, September 16-17

Santa Fe, NM – The Radioactive and Hazardous Materials Committee will meet Tuesday and Wednesday, September 16-17, 2014 at the Western Commerce Bank Community Room, located at 3010 National Parks Highway in Carlsbad.

On Tuesday, committee members will discuss the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) status report, as well as WIPP monitoring and the environmental response. They will also receive updates from Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) and the Department of Environment. Wednesday’s agenda includes discussions about the right to deploy transmission by distribution utility with representatives from Xcel Energy, LS Power, Regulatory and External Affairs, and ITC Great Plains. A status report on the Carlsbad Brine Well will also be discussed.

Committee Chair Senator Peter Wirth (D-25-Santa Fe) and Vice Chair Representative Eliseo Lee Alcon (D-6- Cibola & McKinley) will preside at the meeting.
