Santa Fe, NM – Senate Majority Leader Michael S. Sanchez (D-29-Valencia & Bernalillo) and Speaker of the House W. Ken Martinez (D-69- Bernalillo, Cibola, McKinley, Socorro, San Juan & Valencia) will be attending a press conference on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the University of New Mexico Children’s Hospital (UNMH) in Albuquerque to proclaim September as Childhood Cancer Awareness month. Sen. Every year the Legislature hosts Children’s Cancer Fund of New Mexico Day. According to Diana Trujeque, Executive Director of the Children’s Cancer Fund of New Mexico, both Sen. Sanchez and Speaker Martinez  have been long time advocates  and very supportive of the pediatric oncology program UNMH. “We appreciate the support offered by the senate and the house for this very important issue,” she said.

Children from UNMH and their families are invited to attend the conference. Other speakers include the Division Chief of the Pediatric Oncology Program John Kuttesch, MD and other UNMH officials.
