Senate Majority Leader Michael S. Sanchez Receives Seven Seals Award from New Mexico Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve

Santa Fe, NM – Senate Majority Leader Michael Sanchez (D-29-Bernalillo & Valencia) received the Seven Seals Award by the New Mexico Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) on July 11. According to New Mexico ESGR Chair, Ray Battaglini, Sen. Sanchez was presented with the award for his continuing support of members of the National Guard and Reserve as well as his support of their employers.

Sen. Sanchez was given the award and honored at a luncheon held at the Belen National Guard Armory, which was sponsored by New Mexico ESGR. According to a spokesperson of the New Mexico ESGR, the luncheon was part of a “boss lift” in which employers are shown what National Guard and Reserve members do while performing their jobs as guard and reservists. At the luncheon, soldiers demonstrated equipment, while employers were able to ride on a Black Hawk helicopter.

“I feel truly grateful to be recognized by the ESGR,” said Sen. Sanchez. “The people who serve this country have a truly special place in my heart and their work deserves to be acknowledged and commended. I will try to continue to do just that and assure they know that they always have my support and respect. I am humbled by this honor.”

According to the spokesperson, the award is presented for support of ESGR’s mission of making sure employers know what their Guard and Reserve member employees do and to encourage employers to support their employees in their Guard and Reserve endeavors.
