Senate Majority Leader Michael S. Sanchez to Appear on
“Report from Santa Fe” this Weekend
Senate Majority Floor Leader Michael S. Sanchez will discuss the current 2016 Legislative Session on “Report from Santa Fe,” hosted by Lorene Mills. The interview will be available for viewing on television statewide on Saturday and Sunday, and on the radio and online thereafter.

“I welcome the chance to sit down with Lorene and clear up the cloud of misinformation that has been raised about the Senate and me, personally,” Senator Sanchez says. “I am proud that the Senate sets itself apart as the deliberative body. The committee process not only gives the public a fair opportunity to weigh in on proposed legislation, it also gives senators a chance to listen to many different viewpoints on issues to make better and more informed decisions. Whether Republican or Democrat, I will always say that we are a family in the Senate.”
Senator Sanchez points to the Martinez Administration as part of the problem with New Mexico’s slumping economy. “Up to this point in this legislature, we have not had any messages from the governor that deal with the economy or job growth. It’s unfortunate because New Mexicans are struggling, people are looking for jobs, and families are hurting. So it is really a strange 30-day session, which is intended to deal with the budget.”
In addition to the budget crisis, other topics to be discussed are crucial problems in state finances, efforts to boost New Mexico’s economy, ethics, and Real ID.
People in the eastern New Mexico can see Senator Sanchez talk on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at 6 p.m. on Channel 3, KENW-TV, the PBS station in Portales. Dish-TV will also air the interview statewide on Channel 3 at this same time.
Viewers in Albuquerque, Santa Fe and the northern part of the state can watch Senator Sanchez at 8 a.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2016, on Channel 5, KNME-TV, the PBS station in Albuquerque. Those with DirecTV can watch the interview statewide later Sunday at 5:30 p.m. on Channel 3.
Radio listeners can tune in to KANW-FM, 89.1, at 9:30 a.m., Monday, February 8, to listen to the interview. After all the broadcasts are complete, the interview with Senator Sanchez will be accessible available online at www.reportfromsantafe.com.
