Senator Bill Soules Attends National Legislative Meeting to Develop and Assess NM’s Educational Improvement Plans

Santa Fe, NM— Senator Bill Soules (D-37-Dona Ana) will be attending a Legislative Education Chairs meeting, hosted by the National Conference of Legislative Leaders (NCSL), in Boston from September 4-6. According to Sen. Soules, he hopes to discuss New Mexico’s educational system with other legislative leaders from around the United States and will to learn about new practices and progressive improvements to education that are successful in other countries and states.

“These meetings are so important to those of us who work directly to influence and guide the educational systems of our states. It is not only important to discuss and engage in rich conversation about how to maintain and improve our educational systems through our respective positions, but also to make our constituents aware that we attend such important meetings that allow us  to better serve them,” said Sen. Soules. “As the representative for New Mexico and a professional within the educational field, I am honored to have the opportunity to attend such meetings that allow me to focus solely on this issue. Hopefully, this will continue to equip me with the knowledge and tools I need to continue to help our education system improve.”

Those scheduled to speak at the meeting will include representatives NCSL, the National Center on Education and the Economy, Michigan State University, the Asia Society in New York, Boston University, Duke University, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, Stanford University, Learning First in Australia, and the Center for Teaching Quality.
