Statement from State Senator Carlos Cisneros
Rio Grande Trail Proposal Gives Us a Chance to Showcase New Mexico

Santa Fe, NM – State Senator Carlos Cisneros (D-6-Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Santa Fe & Taos) issued the following statement in support of House Bill 563 (HB 563), sponsored by Representative Jeff Steinborn (D-35-Doña Ana ) :

“This week, House Bill 563 was introduced to create a Rio Grande Trail Commission to establish a 500-mile trail that will run through New Mexico, from Colorado to Texas. This trail, which can be used for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, will give us a chance to show off our state. It will complement our national monuments, showcase our diverse landscapes and will open up a fresh venue for tourism. It takes vision to carry out a task like this; I believe Representative Steinborn, along with the other legislators who signed on to this bill, have that vision and motivation to see it through. New Mexico deserves the chance to lend its natural beauty to people all around the world, and this trail will make that beauty accessible and practical. I look forward to seeing  this bipartisan effort move forward for the good of our state. And for these reasons I am proud to be a co-sponsor of this important legislation.”
