Senator opposing Monique Jacobson says public on his side

State Sen. Michael Padilla, the most outspoken critic of the governor’s new Cabinet secretary of the Children, Youth and Families Department, says the taxpaying public is on his side.

Padilla, D-Albuquerque, has called Gov. Susana Martinez’s appointment of Monique Jacobson “reckless.”

Jacobson, 36, took over Monday as head of the Children, Youth and Families Department. She was secretary of the state Tourism Department for the last four years. Her background is in marketing and economics, not social work.
