Senator William Soules Recipient of New Mexico Library Association’s Legislator of the Year Award

Santa Fe, NM – Senator William Soules (D-37-Dona Ana) has been selected to receive the 2014 New Mexico Library Association’s Legislator of the Year Award for demonstrating “leadership in the advancement of libraries throughout the state…especially for his efforts on behalf of the public schools and libraries in his area.”

Sen. Soules will be recognized and awarded at a Heroes, Un-Masked dinner during this year’s New Mexico Library Association annual conference in the fall. An awards dinner will be held on Thursday, October 23 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort & Casino, Mescalero Ballroom, in Ruidoso.

“Receiving this award is an honor and I feel truly humbled to be recognized for the work I’ve done in the name of education. As an educator, it always makes me feel good to be appreciated in this field, and even better to know I’ve actually made a difference,” Sen. Soules said.

“I cannot wait to attend the dinner and extend my deepest thanks for this award. My hope is that my work will continue to benefit libraries around my district and throughout the state, and to continue to encourage New Mexicans to utilize and cherish the libraries in their communities,” Sen. Soules added.
