Statement from Senate Majority Leader Michael S. Sanchez Regarding Attack on Islamic Center of New Mexico

Santa Fe, NM – Senate Majority Leader Michael S. Sanchez (D-29-Bernalillo & Valencia) issued following statement regarding the attack on the Islamic Center of New Mexico this morning:

“It was terribly disturbing to learn about the Molotov cocktail that was thrown into the Islamic Center of New Mexico this morning. As a state that values diversity and is famous for its rich culture and warm people, it is shameful that someone would attack such an important place of worship that means so much to our Muslim neighbors. I am relieved that no one was physically hurt as a result of this senseless act, and hope that the perpetrators will be caught and dealt with appropriately. I urge the people of this great state to come together and continue to support and accept one another regardless of race, religion, or culture. By joining together to fight intolerance, we will keep New Mexicans safe and secure.”
