Santa Fe, NM–To leverage its growing numbers, New Mexico’s female legislators have banded together to form the state’s first Women’s Caucus at the Roundhouse.  Today, they announced its slate of newly elected officers, who will lead the bicameral group of eight (8) senators and thirty-one (31) house representatives:

President Co-Chairs

Senator Antoinette Sedillo Lopez (D-Albuquerque)

Representative Kelly Fajardo (R-Belen)

Vice President Co-Chairs

Dayan Hochman-Vigil (D-Albuquerque)

Gail Armstrong (R-Magdalena)

Secretary

Natalie Figueroa (D-Albuquerque)

Treasurer

Rebecca Dow (R-Truth or Consequences)

Parliamentarian

Andrea Romero (D-Santa Fe)

Members of the Women’s Caucus will work together on bipartisan issues and hope to amplify their collective voice, and influence, in the state legislature.

“The solutions that impact women, families and children are bipartisan solutions,” said Senator Sedillo Lopez.  “We want to model a legislature that works together and gets things done.”

“It’s the Year of the Woman,” added House Majority Leader Sheryl Williams Stapleton.  “And here we are!”
