Bill to Boost Small Business Growth in New Mexico Signed into Law

SANTA FE – Today, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signed Senate Bill 10 into law. This measure doubles the funding for the state Small Business Investment Corporation, a program to drive small business growth in New Mexico through loan programs. The legislation was sponsored by Senator Carlos Cisneros.

Since inception in 2001 to the end of FY18, the SBIC reports it has facilitated more than 4,500 loans that have supported more than 12,000 jobs across 223 communities across the state.

“When small businesses prosper in New Mexico everyone wins,” Sen. Cisneros said. “By doubling our funding for the SBIC we will be dramatically increasing our investments in small businesses across the state and committing to their success.”
