Economic and Rural Development Committee Meeting Monday and Tuesday, November 24-25

Santa Fe, NM – The Economic and Rural Development Committee will meet on Monday and Tuesday, November 24-25, 2014, in Room 322 of the State Capitol in Santa Fe.

On Monday, committee members will discuss the Liquor Control Act, nonprofit organizations, telecommunications, the 2015 legislative priorities of New Mexico Association of Counties;  electric cooperatives; the Gaia Gardens and Mil Abrazos Community Land Trust; household and community economic development impact; high-cost lending effects on New Mexico’s economy; and the emerging programs from New Mexico MainStreet.

On Tuesday, committee members will discuss dental therapist licensure in New Mexico, first right to construct transmission infrastructure, legislation for possible committee endorsement, the Cooperation Among Mexico, USA and New Mexico memorial, the Economic and Rural Development Committee Liquor Control Act Working Group Bill, the Research Gap Funding Bill, set-asides for New Mexico resident business, appropriations for Economic Development Districts, the Councils of Governments, and New Mexico fruits and vegetables for school meals.

Committee Chair Representative Debbie Rodella (D-41- Rio Arriba, Santa Fe & Taos) and Vice-Chair Senator Howie Morales (D-28- Catron, Grant & Socorro) will preside at the meeting.
