Legislative Courts, Corrections and Justice Committee Meeting Thursday and Friday, September 25-26
Santa Fe, NM – The Legislative Courts, Corrections and Justice Committee will meet on Thursday and Friday, September 25-26, 2014 at New Mexico Highlands University Student Union Building Ballroom, located at 800 National Avenue in Las Vegas.
Among several agenda items, on Thursday, committee members will meet with the Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee and receive a report from the Joint Education Task Force. Committee members will also discuss lowering caseloads for parents, juvenile detention alternatives initiatives, ending the school-to-prison pipeline, the University of New Mexico (UNM) Center of Excellence in Child Maltreatment and Abuse,serious youthful offender amenability hearings, hazing, and receive an update from the Children, Youth and Families Department. On Friday, committee member will take a tour of the Behavioral Health Institute in Las Vegas.
Co-Chairs Senator Richard Martinez (D-5- Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Sandoval & Santa Fe) and Representative Gail Chasey (D-18-Bernalillo) will preside at the meeting.
