Legislative Health and Human Services Committee Meeting Monday and Tuesday, November 24-25

Santa Fe, NM – The legislative Health and Human Services Committee will meet on Monday and Tuesday, November 24-25, 2014, in Room 307 of the State Capitol in Santa Fe.

On Monday, committee members will discuss reports from: Children, Youth and Families Department (SJM3), the J. Paul Taylor Task Force, the Health Care Work Force Working Group (SJM6), and Community Health Specialists (HM12). They will also discuss engaging market forces, competition and quality to attract, and retaining and compensating health care providers. Other agenda items include the Sexuality and Gender Equity (SAGE) Health Project, and chiropractic physicians’ scopes of practice.

On Tuesday, committee members will discuss the Falls Task Force Report, the New Mexico Donor Services Liver Transplant Facility, supportive services for liver transplant patients, the legalization of marijuana, health in all policies, and the Behavioral Health Boarding Homes Task Force report.

Committee Chair Representative James Roger Madalena (D-65- Rio Arriba, Sandoval & San Juan) and Vice Chair Senator Gerald Ortiz y Pino (D-12-Bernalillo) will preside at the meeting.
