Senator Jacob Candelaria Keynote Speaker at National Conference

Santa Fe, NM – Senator Jacob Candelaria (D-26-Bernalillo) will deliver a keynote address Thursday to the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs and Administration’s (NASPAA) “Conference on Confronting the Challenges of Public Service Education.” The conference will take place on November 5 and 6 at the Hyatt Regency and the Hotel Andaluz, in Albuquerque. Sen. Candelaria is scheduled to speak on November 6.

According to the NASPAA, its mission is to ensure excellence in education and training for public service and to promote the ideal of public service.

“It’s an honor to be invited to speak at this year’s NASPAA annual conference,” said Sen. Candelaria. “I plan to focus my presentation on driving innovation in state government—I believe that government can and must do better to improve the lives of every New Mexican. We drive innovation by adopting new technologies, and new ideas, by abandoning broken ideas in favor of real solutions, by putting politics aside and standing up for New Mexican values.”

According to the NASPAA’s conference announcement, this year’s conference will feature 80 sessions, including “Creating New Partnerships,” “Speaking Up For the Public Good” and “Modeling Excellence in Public Service Education.” Over 500 representatives from national and international graduate education programs in public policy, public affairs, public administration, public and nonprofit management are expected to attend.
