Senator Tim Keller Responds to Governor’s Continuing Failure to Take Action on Bringing Jobs to NM
Albuquerque, NM – Following Majority Whip Tim Keller’s (D-17-Bernalillo) call for a special session after Governor Martinez failed to allow the legislature to address major issues of concern during the regular session earlier this year, the governor lashed out in defense of inaction.
In response to the governor’s continuing desire for inaction, Sen. Keller released the following statement:
The Governor’s defense of inaction is a complete disservice to families and communities all across the state who are struggling with continuing job losses, water concerns, a mental healthcare crisis and an education system failing to meet the needs of our children. This is not the time for political games as I made clear in my letter to her. We all have a lot at stake. But the cost to future generations of New Mexicans by sitting on our hands is far greater than the costs of coming together to find solutions. I strongly believe that the benefit of bringing Tesla to New Mexico far outweighs the costs of a special session. I will continue to call for action on these issues and welcome a serious conversation from this administration.
