Three New Mexico Senate Democrats Shine in the National Spotlight

Santa Fe, NM – In recent weeks, three New Mexico Senate Democratic Senators have been recognized by their peers across the nation for their contributions and leadership.

The BLC’s mission is focused on enhancing collaboration and communication among state legislators of the United States and Mexico. Membership in the BLC is comprised of legislators from California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas in the U.S., and Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, and Tamaulipas in Mexico. As the newly elected Chair, Senator Cisneros will be hosting the next meeting of the BLC this week in Santa Fe, where they will be discussing issues such as adapting to a changing border, drought, NAFTA, energy in the border region, and DACA. They also called out her strong leadership and willingness to share lessons learned with her colleagues across the country. Read the full press release here.

“These three Senators exemplify what it means to serve. Not only are they active in their work for the New Mexico Senate, but they have expanded their leadership and influence to support issues that are important at a national and international level,” says Senate Majority Leader Peter Wirth. “We are fortunate to have them in our caucus and all New Mexicans should be proud of the visibility their recognition gives to the state.”
